NYC taxi driver hits multiple pedestrians, sending some to hospital

A taxi hit six pedestrians after jumping a curb in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, sending three people to the hospital for injuries, The Associated Press reported.

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said two people, including a 9-year-old boy, were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center, and one person was taken to Bellevue Hospital, according to AP. All were in stable condition, including the other three pedestrians who refused medical attention.

The spokesperson also said the taxi driver may have suffered a medical episode, AP reported, but the investigation has not yet confirmed this.

The taxi reportedly jumped the curb near Macy’s flagship store at Herald Square around 4 p.m. and struck the pedestrians on the sidewalk.

A video at the scene shows a taxi with its bumper fallen off and a tow truck later carrying away the taxi.

The Hill has reached out to the NYPD for more information.
