Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the 2024 presidential race on Friday, criticizing the modern Democrat Party that he says no longer stands for the values his family once championed from the White House when his uncle was President and his father was U.S. Attorney General.
He said he no longer perceives a real path to the White House, so he’s suspending his independent campaign to avoid being a spoiler in the election. He noted that he’s removing his name from ballots in key battleground states because he believes his presence in the race would only help Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and he doesn’t support her. Recent polls seem to support the assessment that his presence could have drawn away support from Donald Trump, showing that Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats to have a favorable opinion of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
RFK Jr. said he will now support Trump in his effort to get reelected. Kennedy says while he and Trump disagree on some issues, they also agree on quite a few others, and therefore he believes they could work together. “I will not allow your efforts to go to waste,” he told supporters, revealing that he hopes to join the administration if Trump should win the election.
Kennedy roundly condemned the current path of the Democratic Party as “the party of war, censorship, corruption, big pharma, big tech, big ag, and big money.” He said while democracy may still be alive at the grassroots, it no longer exists in many ways among the media and big government.
He went on to accuse the Democrat Party of disenfranchising voters and contended that they used “Democrat-aligned judges” to throw him off the ballots and to throw Trump in jail. “The DNC waged continual legal warfare against myself and President Trump,” he said.

Kennedy also pointed to media collusion and government censorship of social media and even challenged reporters to think about the coverage decisions made by the big media institutions they work for.
His goal is to join a potential Trump administration in a health services role to save the lives of children by finding solutions to the chronic disease crisis in America that he blames on issues like government corruption and unhealthy ultra-processed foods.
Kennedy is the son of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy. He first entered the 2024 presidential race as a Democrat but left the party last fall to run as an independent.
